Purchasing Agent
Responsibilities
- Purchasing Agent Level 1:
- Obtain request for quotes from vendors using basic knowledge of material grades
- Confirm purchase orders
- File purchase orders electronically
- Monitor material ETAs
- Cookpier coordinate pick-ups with the shipping department
- Negotiate with suppliers
- Seek continuous improvements in purchasing processes and vendor relationships
- Purchasing Agent Level 2 (requires competency in Level 1 functions):
- Read blueprints and understand specifications with firm knowledge of material grades
- Process vendor returns in E2
- Maintain kirksite record
- Maintain inventory levels for stock material and placement of re-order tags
- Create outside service pack lists
- New vendor processing and setup
- Maintain Smart Cell and office supply closet
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of purchasing-related experience or demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above-mentioned tasks
- Basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word); advanced computer skills required for Level 2
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams
- Ability to prioritize work
- Problem solving skills
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds; occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
- Occasional sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, moving mechanical parts, industrial equipment, vibration, and loud noise
- Eligible to work in the United States, either by means of U.S. Citizenship, Work Visa, or H1B sponsorship
