Responsibilities

  • Build new pumps and supporting equipment.
  • Complete retrofits and refurbish existing rental fleet as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose a variety of pumps to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform routine maintenance, safety inspections, and equipment checks; inspect, repair, and adjust pumps, completing all documentation accurately.
  • Participate in training programs directed by leadership to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain tools according to MSHA and OSHA regulations for safe operation.
  • Report any unserviceable or unsafe shop tools, equipment, or vehicles to the Manager.
  • Handle essential computer tasks, including work orders, parts searches, and email communications.
  • Collaborate with coworkers and customers to ensure top-quality equipment and exceed customer expectations.
  • Provide exceptional service and support during field visits, overseeing installation, repair, maintenance, and testing.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues, generate detailed service reports.
  • Operate vehicles safely and use field automation systems as needed.
  • Understand and address customer needs, providing recommendations and briefings for satisfaction.
  • Follow all company procedures and protocols.
  • Work with the technical team and share information across the organization.
  • Foster positive relationships with customers.

Requirements

  • Experience as a pump technician or in a similar role, ideally within equipment rental, construction, or industrial services.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of pumps, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diesel engines.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Flexible schedule and ability to adapt to changing shifts.
  • Own tools required.
  • Proven service experience in the field.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Military service will be considered in lieu of education/certification experience as applicable.

Work Environment

  • Work is primarily conducted in construction sites, equipment yards, and transportation routes.
  • Regular exposure to heavy machinery and diesel-powered equipment in operation.
  • Frequent outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
  • Physically demanding environment with uneven terrain, dust, mud, and loud noise levels.
  • Duties may involve both shop-based tasks and fieldwork, including travel to remote job sites.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols is required at all times.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as steel-toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection must be worn as needed.
  • Must be comfortable operating around large equipment, performing tasks in confined spaces, or working from elevated positions.
  • Lifting heavy components and materials is often required.
  • Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as job site conditions and priorities can change rapidly.

May require some travel to job sites, which may include several hours of driving.

Physical Demands

  • Requires a high level of physical stamina and mobility to perform duties in jobsite and yard environments.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, and maneuvering of tools, chains, tarps, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more, often without assistance.
  • Regular bending, squatting, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to secure loads, inspect vehicles, or perform minor maintenance tasks.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and working on foot, often on uneven terrain such as gravel, dirt, or pavement.
  • Climbing in and out of trucks, onto trailers, or occasionally onto equipment is required.
  • Must be able to work from various heights and maintain balance while performing tasks on steps, ladders, or platforms.
  • Fine motor skills and good manual dexterity needed for handling controls, securing tie-downs, and completing documentation.
  • Must be able to safely operate commercial vehicles and remain alert in potentially hazardous driving and yard conditions.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, and positioning of heavy materials or components may be required.
