Publishing Assistant - PYR - (Hybrid)
About the role
Penguin Young Readers is seeking a Publishing Assistant to support the division's brands and business development efforts. This role offers opportunities to learn about the publishing industry and the marketplace, working closely with sales, marketing, and editorial teams.
Responsibilities
- Run regular sales and competitive reports and share that information with various departments across the division, including sales, marketing, and editorial teams
- Administrative support of publishing office and brand department which includes setting up and running (virtual) meetings, locating materials/jackets/etc., and supporting the division’s executive assistant as needed for in-office hospitality
- Prepare PowerPoint presentations and/or Excel grids for meetings including business reviews, conferences, and divisional meetings
- Provides routine support in a variety of areas, including licensing, brand management, title metadata and description
- Supports various divisional special projects and research requests, such as an editorial directory update or industry trend deep-dive
- Process physical product samples from licensing partners
- Aid in organizing internal events such as author visits, guest speakers, and social events
Qualifications
- An interest in the business side of publishing and analysis
- Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Flexibility and interest in new challenges and adaptable to changing needs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
- An interest in children’s books
- Knowledge of and interest in industry trends and topics
- Aptitude for numbers
Additional Information
This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities (approximately 3 days a week). We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, and NY). Salary for this position is $55,000.
