About the role
The Publicity Assistant will support the Random House Group publicity department on campaigns for media-driven fiction and nonfiction books across the Random House Group, working with the Random House, Dial Press, One World, and Modern Library imprints.
Responsibilities
- Assisting publicity staff with high-profile media campaigns for bestselling authors.
- Communicating with media, booksellers, in-house colleagues, authors, and agents.
- Pitching media and bookstores.
- Creatively and efficiently managing details in author itineraries.
- Updating internal documents and systems.
- Coordinating mailings, publicity materials, and review copy requests.
- Organizing travel and hotel logistics for author tours and special events.
- Processing invoices, maintaining title budgets for supervisors' campaigns, and helping with data entry related to campaigns.
- Performing online research to acquire publicity contacts and updating media lists.
Qualifications
- A strong interest in book publishing, publicity, and media relations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- An excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- The ability to juggle priorities in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
- A self-starter who takes initiative and wants to learn and grow.
- Proficiency with social media, internet research, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Information
The salary for this position is $55,000.00. All positions are currently eligible for an annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results. This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
