Universal Television Entertainment is responsible for world-class television entertainment, programming and marketing content across Bravo, NBC, and Peacock. The division produces over 3,000 hours of television annually through Universal Studio Group, which includes Universal Television, UCP, Universal International Studios, and Universal Television Alternative Studio.
About the role
The Publicist will generate maximum exposure for Universal Studio Group original projects, focusing on series showrunners, below-the-line talent, awards editorial, and talent relations. The role covers scripted and unscripted television, co-productions, and podcasts, reporting to a senior member of the Communications team.
Responsibilities
- Under the leadership of a supervisor, work with network and distribution partners to create and implement unique, strategic PR campaigns for assigned series.
- Support studio PR leads on priority projects, including:
- Identify press opportunities for below-the-line creatives, showrunners, and executive producers.
- Service daily media requests.
- Coordinate appearances for electronic interviews, photo and video shoots, and industry/press events.
- Contribute to award strategy campaigns for assigned series.
- Position series for awards consideration with key press and industry influencers.
- Provide media training to talent and executive producers as needed.
- Serve as a talent relations liaison for the studio, handling logistics such as:
- Awards logistics (booking hair, makeup, cars).
- Start-of-production gifts.
- Studio panels and itineraries.
- Maintain budget trackers for assigned projects.
- Work with talent representatives to organize logistics for festivals and awards shows.
- Monitor the competitive environment via daily review of industry news and podcasts.
- Pull and monitor press coverage of assigned show titles.
- Identify and share press clippings about industry business news.
- Collaborate with network and distribution partners to plan press events (junkets, red carpets, press screenings, panels, speaking opportunities).
- Collaborate with the marketing team on awards campaigns, including gathering assets for microsites, ads, and panels.
- Collaborate with Corporate Communications on executive opportunities and studio announcements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key press (long-lead magazines, weeklies, trades, major dailies, blogs, and digital outlets).
- Support supervisor in crafting strategies for projects, including series, library titles, and overall deals.
- Create and update team documents.
- Copy edit written materials.
- Assist colleagues and the team as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 3+ years of entertainment publicity experience, preferably at a studio.
Skills
- Knowledge of pitching, booking, and covering national and local media interviews.
- Established relationships with television press, trade, awards, and guild press.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated and proactive.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong organizational and creative skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple deadlines and identify press opportunities.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Schedule
Hybrid: This position requires in-office work a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
Pay
Salary range: $65,000 - $80,000
