Public Works - Streets Equipment Operator I

• Safely operate light motorized equipment, including trucks, tractors and mowers used in maintenance and construction work.
• Assist in resurfacing, patching and maintaining city streets and drainage systems.
• Move materials like asphalt, gravel, dirt and stone to get the job done right.
• Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning and ordinary servicing on tools and equipment.
• Work safely in close proximity to high-speed vehicle traffic.
• Operate hand tools including saws, jackhammers and air compressors, as required.
• Work on a rotation with the call-out crew.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED; equipment operations experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of construction equipment operation, care and adjustment; public works construction methods and safe driving practices.
• Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver's license (or ability to successfully complete the City's CDL driving academy).
• Possession of a Class A or B CDL can add up to $160.00 per month in addition, depending on endorsements.
