About the role
The Town of Jackson, Public Works Department is accepting applications for a full-time Street Operator/Utility Locator position.
Responsibilities
- Perform utility locates in spring, summer, and fall
- Complete paperwork associated with utility locates
- Maintain public right of way, including winter snow removal, street maintenance, and sidewalk/boardwalk maintenance
- Provide backup operations for water and sewer systems as needed
Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance is qualifying. Typical qualifications include:
- High School graduation or equivalent
- Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain
- 2 years of experience in a maintenance position using light or heavy-duty equipment or in construction activities
Opportunities for on-the-job training are available for applicants without experience or required licenses.

Pay
Hiring range: $30 – $33/hour or $62,025 – $68,640 annually, DOQ.
Advancement
Upon hire, operators are eligible to advance to Equipment Operator/Utility Locator I and up to Senior Equipment Operator/Senior Utility Locator, with an additional 4.5% compensation increase at each level, plus annual wage increases.
Signing/Longevity Bonus
$7,500 signing/longevity bonus paid over 3 years.

- Position is subject to the federally mandated DOT-FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program (pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random testing)
