About the role
The Public Works Agency employs Public Works Managers I/II/III in four departments: Engineering Services, Roads & Transportation, Water & Sanitation, and Watershed Protection.
Responsibilities
- Manages a major department or agency program, project, or a section’s daily activities including planning, organizing, and managing the programmatic, administrative, and operational activities within designated areas of responsibility.
- Makes or approves purchases for necessary supplies, materials, and rentals to accomplish divisional assignments.
- Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned division.
- Directs the preparation and administration of annual budgets.
- Coordinates activities with other divisions, departments, state, federal and local agencies, property owners, or developers.
- Represents the division or agency before commissions, organizations, local communities, special interest groups, businesses, customers, and the general public using principles of good customer service.
- Visits sites and performs field reviews or investigations.
Requirements
- Under direction, manages a small to mid-sized (I) or mid-sized to large-sized (II) section of the Public Works Agency, including Environmental Services, Stormwater Resources, Groundwater Resources, Hydrography, or Hydrology.
- Aids in the planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating of the varied activities within the assigned section.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- For PW MGR I: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
- For PW MGR II: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
- For PW MGR III: Master's degree in civil engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
Skills
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and specialized public works software.

Pay
- PW MGR I: $4,253.64 - $5,955.69/biweekly
- PW MGR II: $4,649.48 - $6,509.91/biweekly
- PW MGR III: $5,149.99 - $7,210.69/biweekly
