PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Lead safety, service, productivity, and financial performance across CPKC’s crossing and right-of-way operations. Represent the company with government and regulatory partners to advance meaningful safety improvements at public and private crossings. Address inquiries from municipalities, agencies, and citizens with expertise while collaborating across Operations and Engineering teams to resolve issues quickly and effectively.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Cook up with government agencies, regulators, utilities, outside parties, and internal departments on construction, crossing, and signal projects
  • Oversee all flagging coordination for third-party projects
  • Lead negotiations for at-grade crossing closures and cost apportionment on joint projects
  • Prepare and process Crossing and Signal Agreements for public and private projects
  • Identify and leverage outside funding sources for construction and upgrade initiatives
  • Ensure outside parties comply with CPKC, AREMA, and regulatory safety standards when working on railway property
  • Serve as the primary contact for public agencies and stakeholders on crossing safety, right-of-way matters, and public project coordination
  • Participate in on-site visits with internal and external stakeholders

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ace in civil engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of railroad experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drill down, understand root cause, and resolve complex issues
  • Motivated individual comfortable working independently in an unstructured, multi-disciplinary team atmosphere
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams)
