Public Works Field Technician I (Streets and Drainage)

Essential Functions

• Performs manual and semi-skilled labor tasks related to construction, repair, and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, and storm drainage systems.
• Cuts out streets and driveways.
• Sets forms for concrete work, finishes concrete work, rakes asphalt, and performs pothole repairs (hot or cold).
• Manually excavates, backfills, and compacts excavated areas to facilitate repair.
• Installs erosion control material (riprap, sandbags).
• Pick up trash and debris, cleans roundabouts.
• Performs routine safety inspections.
• Transports materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites.
• Operates and services equipment such as skid steer, coring machine, pothole patch truck, and compactors.
• Operates light vehicles and machinery.
• Operates hand tools and power tools.
• Aids with cleaning and upkeep of vehicles and maintains checklists.
• Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers, and others in the course of daily work.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
• Must possess and maintain a valid State of Texas Driver’s License.
• Must possess a Class B CDL with required endorsements or possess CDL permit or obtain license and endorsements within six (6) months of hire.

Salary Range: $18.1453 - $22.2414 per hour, DOQ
