Public Space Houseperson - Full Time

The Q Center is a full-service conference facility with 150,000+ square-feet of IACC-certified meeting and event spaces, hosting Fortune 500 meetings, small business training, and special events on 95 acres in the Midwest.

About the role

The Public Space Houseperson maintains high standards in lobby areas, public restrooms, classrooms, offices, fitness center, retail outlets, and kitchens, including daily cup walks for classrooms and proper use of equipment. Schedule varies, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain public restrooms, offices, classrooms, furniture, and kitchens per center procedures.
• Deliver supplies to assigned sections as necessary.
• Collect recyclables and trash from public areas and back of the house; dispose in outside dumpsters.
• Vacuum guest corridors; sweep, mop, scrub, wax, and polish hard floors.
• Keep hallways, public areas, and closets neat; arrange furniture per standard setup.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in public restrooms and stairwells.
• Adhere to scheduled project cleaning checklists for public areas.
• Handle "Lost and Found" items according to center standards.
• Report maintenance issues to Housekeeping Supervisor/Manager.
• Turn in all keys and assignment sheets at the end of shift.
• Practice safe work habits and use proper two-way radio etiquette.
• Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests and employees.
• Ensure overall guest satisfaction.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent; experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
• Medium work: Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently.
• Ability to stand during entire shift.
• Flexible and long hours sometimes required.

Pay

Starting rate: $18.00/hour.
