About the role
The Prince William County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a Public Safety Telecommunicator (Dispatcher) to support the Courts Division. Key responsibilities include:
- Gathering information
- Monitoring security cameras and video footage
- Dispatching information via radio and telephone
- Aiding other law enforcement personnel in radio traffic and prisoner activity
- Cooking inmate movement in and outside the courthouse building
- Providing vital and time-sensitive information to first responders through record checks
- Answering phones
Responsibilities
The Public Safety Telecommunicator will handle various tasks, including:
- Gathering information
- Monitoring security cameras and video footage
- Dispatching information via radio and telephone
- Aiding other law enforcement personnel in radio traffic and prisoner activity
- Cooking inmate movement in and outside the courthouse building
- Providing vital and time-sensitive information to first responders through record checks
- Answering phones

Qualifications
Minimum requirements include:
- A High School Diploma or GED
Skills
Preferred skills include:
- Experience in a law enforcement and/or public safety environment
- Current VCIN Certification or one (1) year of experience operating VCIN/NCIC
- One (1) year of experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications
- One (1) year of dispatch experience
