Public Safety Supervisor-FT 7p-7a/LGH

About the role

You will lead and motivate assigned staff, review and evaluate work performance, improve processes and productivity, identify challenges, and develop plans to mitigate or eliminate them. You will oversee shift operations, provide training, and conduct evaluations to ensure performance standardization and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and oversee proactive patrol techniques and strategies to ensure the safety and security of all Centra Health affiliated persons, property, and assets on assigned shift.
• Ensure the team uses collaborative partnerships to identify and reduce Centra Health’s exposure to internal and external risks and threats.
• Maintain visible deterrence to crime, prohibited activities, or suspicious activities in public and non-public areas (e.g., main campus, outlying buildings, grounds, parking areas, stairways, tunnels, mechanical areas, or patient treatment areas).
• Oversee, coordinate, assign, and review the work activities of all Public Safety Officers assigned to shift.
• Manage and supervise staff’s work performance, training, and schedule, including planning to cover required open shifts.
• Orient and train new Public Safety Officers and provide ongoing direction to all officers.
• Serve as the lead reviewer of Officer Incident Reports (OIRs), escalate high-priority circumstances, and implement corrective or follow-up actions.
• Lead initial investigations and report hazards, unusual, or suspicious circumstances.
• Conduct follow-up investigations on reported security incidents and coordinate case management files for review by Lieutenant and Deputy Chief before submission to local law enforcement or the Commonwealth’s Magistrate office.
• Coach and mentor staff, provide consistent and timely feedback, remain accessible, and communicate consistently with staff.
• Participate in public safety training and development programs.
• Engage in local, state, and federal advisory groups to stay current with security-related information and events.
• Perform other special duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Valid driver’s license
• CPR and CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification
• Firearms proficiency certification
• Special Conservator of the Peace (SCOP) licensure
• Ability to comply with all federal, state, and local requirements for carrying a firearm, including prohibitions on the use of controlled substances

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (consideration given for experience and professional certifications)
• ASIS PSP (Certified Physical Security Professional)

Pay

$23.91–$33.47 hourly

Schedule

Travel is expected between Centra-owned facilities and training assignments.
