About the Role
Join Maricopa County Enterprise Technology & Innovation, Wireless Systems Division, as a Public Safety/RF Technician. This position provides a critical communications element necessary to keep the public safe and ensures all County agencies have reliable radios, helping to deliver vital public services to every Maricopa County resident.

Responsibilities
- Perform new installation and change-outs of mobile two-way radios and mobile data terminals in various vehicles, including mounting antennas, running wiring, installing radios, and testing for continuity.
- Document completed work, update parts and asset inventory in the department-maintained electronic database.
- Respond to on-site customer repair requests requiring immediate attention.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, alignment, and repair of equipment installed on public safety vehicles, including lights, sirens, and two-way radios.
- Request approval for changes to the standard installation process and record documentation.
Requirements
- Three years of experience in electronics, including diagnosis, repair, or hands-on installation of mobile radios or other electronic systems in vehicles.
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field (or a combination of post-secondary education and job-related experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis).
- Valid Arizona Driver’s license by the time of hire.
- Mobile Electronics Certified Professional (MECP) or FCC General Radio Telephone Operator’s license or equivalent (valued but not required).
- Basic metal fabrication and welding skills (MIG, TIG) (valued but not required).
Working Conditions
- Exerting 50–100 lbs. occasionally, 10–25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10–20 lbs. constantly.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, noise, vibration, moving mechanical parts, fumes, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and travel.
Pay
Pay Range: $26.00 – $40.25 hourly. Salary offers are based on the candidate’s equivalent experience and internal equity. Overtime compensation is provided for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.
