Average Workday
- Protect life and property through law enforcement and firefighting work.
- Respond to emergencies, disorder, crime, and fires via radio, telephone, or in person.
- Develop and present educational programs to students in the school system.
- Interview persons with complaints or inquiries, take statements, and direct them to the proper authorities.
- Conduct preliminary investigations, gather evidence, and locate witnesses.
- Make arrests and/or take prisoners to jail.
- Visit crime scenes, search for and preserve evidence, investigate clues, and apprehend violators.
- Ensure prisoners are charged, processed, and confined.
- Compose written reports.
- Appear in court to present evidence and/or testify as required.
- Conduct specialized investigations.
- Administer basic first aid.
- Attend in-service training and practice use of firearms.
