About the role
The Public Safety Officer will serve and provide for the public safety and protection of all Regent and CBN affiliates operating on campus. Primary responsibilities include operation of the Front Desk of the Corporate Support Building as an Armed Guard, with ancillary duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary lobby security and physical access for the Corporate Support Building.
- Input, manage, and maintain the Genetec software including all profiles and information.
- Issue visitors badges as required and ensure badges are returned once the visitation is complete.
- Record visitation of all outside guests in the Genetec software including but not limited to time of arrival and time of departure, etc.
- Verify and process all vendor access ensuring addition to Genetec database.
- Issue the Vehicle Decal information for all CBN employees and staff as directed by Tech Div. Manager.
- Observe and report suspicious or unusual activity to detect and prevent intrusion.
- Perform routine campus interior/exterior building checks to ensure safety and security as assigned.
- Respond to emergencies, protecting people and property.
- Interact with staff and guests, providing assistance as needed.
- Provide crowd and traffic control as required, and issue Regent citations or warnings as necessary.
- Provide courier service for corporate officers for Regent and CBN as needed.
- All other duties assigned by Chain of Command and or proper authority.
- As essential personnel will be available for emergency recall.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. An associate degree or a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Candidates Must Have Work experience in security, law enforcement, or military (Preferred).
- Certified or capable of obtaining CPR and First Aid certification.
- Able to effectively make critical decisions in emergency situations, potentially lead in exigent circumstances.
- Able to act independently with minimal supervision.
- Basic computer skills and ability to multi-task.
- Able to interact in a positive, professional manner with the public and all levels of management.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Able to operate a variety of equipment, including department issued radio and other telecommunications systems.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a good DMV record.
- Able to meet and maintain department physical, uniform, and grooming standards.
- Must meet department’s physical requirements to include appropriate vision and hearing, mental and physical standards to ensure participation in all training and job duties.
- Ability to move quickly to include; running, bending, and lifting up to 150 lbs. and walking and standing for long periods of time.
- Able to complete and maintain DCJS qualified Armed Security Officer certification (training sponsored by RUPD).

Additional Responsibilities
Absorbs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Exposure to
- Routine indoor and outdoor environments, including inclement weather.
- Duties are performed across Regent University and CBN campuses, including patrol vehicles, office settings, and on foot.
- May require extended hours and shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Essential On-Campus Personnel
Employees who, due to the nature of the services you provide, are expected to physically report to perform work on campus during inclement weather and other situations in which the normal on-campus schedule is suspended.

Salary Range: $ 36K- 40K
