Public Safety Officer, Harrington Hospital Webster Campus - 32 hours, Evenings & Nights
About the role
Everyone is a caregiver at UMass Memorial Health – regardless of their title or responsibilities. This position provides security for the safety and protection of Harrington Memorial Hospital's patients, staff, general public, and properties.
Responsibilities
- Patrols, periodically, buildings and grounds of Harrington Memorial Hospital.
- Examines doors, windows, and other points of entry to determine that they are secure.
- Tags and records all points of entry found unlocked or unsecured.
- Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts, in accordance to applicable laws.
- Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
- Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of Hospital property.
- Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and other acts of suspicious instances.
- Records all incidents in writing or electronic media.
- Assists local authorities with investigation of incidents committed on Hospital properties.
- Reports all criminal acts to the Public Safety Supervisor and or local authorities.
- Assists Hospital staff as required providing protection and safety to patients or other individuals.
- Adheres to all general orders and or special orders as directed by the Public Safety Supervisor.
Requirements
- Three years related experience and/or training in military, fire, or police/public safety.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Skills
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of security procedures and protocols.
- Basic computer skills.

Pay
The final offer may vary within the range of $17.36 - $31.26 based on a candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.
Schedule
Weekends (Saturday and Sunday), Scheduled Hours 3p.m. to 7a.m., Shift 4 - Mixed Shift, 8 Hours (United States of America) Hours 32
