Responsibilities

  • Monitor and patrol the facility to prevent and respond to incidents immediately
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures
  • Assist in the vehicular transportation of elderly and handicapped patients to and from Loretto Hospital or other designated locations
  • Monitor surveillance systems
  • Conduct regular safety inspections
  • Control traffic inside and outside the building
  • Address any security concerns or emergencies promptly and effectively
  • Investigate and report any unusual incidents and maintain a 24-hour log of all such incidents
  • Perform related public safety duties as assigned
  • Understand and adhere to Loretto Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy
  • Keep abreast of all pertinent federal, state, and Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Full working knowledge of security principles and practices
  • Excellent communication skills

Qualifications

  • PERC Card preferred
  • One or more years of security guard/officer training or experience preferred
  • Full working knowledge of hospital safety procedures preferred
  • Basic knowledge of body mechanics and transportation procedures preferred
  • Full working knowledge of city boundaries and locations preferred

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk as well as occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Using proper body mechanics, the employee may be expected to lift, pull, push, or move patients and/or equipment. Fine motor skills are required when using hands and fingers to handle, feel, or reach. Normal or corrected vision, hearing, and ability to speak are necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, sharp eye focus, and ability to distinguish colors. There will be periods of stressful intense concentration with more than average pressure used in a variety of problem-solving situations.
