Public Safety Constable - Day shift
About the role
The Public Safety Constable is the front line of the Public Safety Team. The Constable works in an armed capacity to ensure the safety and security of all staff, patients, and visitors, as well as all property owned or operated by Saint Francis Hospital. This position reports to the Public Safety Supervisor on duty and is responsible for providing the highest quality service that aligns with the core values of Saint Francis and Trinity Health. During times of staff shortage or exigent situations, overtime may be requested.
Responsibilities
- Perform the functions of a Public Safety Officer.
- Manage aggressive or violent behavior alone or as part of a team.
- Deal tactfully with colleagues, patients, and visitors.
- Maintain weapon certifications in accordance with Delaware State Police Professional Licensing Section and departmental standards.
- Obtain and maintain CPR, AED, and IAHSS Advanced Training Certificate or higher within specified timeframes.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid motor vehicle license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to obtain Emergency Vehicle Operator (EVO) license within one year of employment.
- Two years of experience in law enforcement, security, and/or public service (Fire/EMS), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must meet the requirements of Constable (State of Delaware) in accordance with Title 10, Chapter 27 of the Delaware Code within 18 months of hire.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated abilities in crisis management.
Qualifications
- Prior law enforcement experience preferred.
- Previous hospital experience preferred.
