Public Safety Constable - Day shift

About the role
The Public Safety Constable is the front line of the Public Safety Team. The Constable works in an armed capacity to ensure the safety and security of all staff, patients, and visitors, as well as all property owned or operated by Saint Francis Hospital. This position reports to the Public Safety Supervisor on duty and is responsible for providing the highest quality service that aligns with the core values of Saint Francis and Trinity Health. During times of staff shortage or exigent situations, overtime may be requested.
Responsibilities
- Perform the functions of a Public Safety Officer
- Manage aggressive or violent behavior alone or as part of a team
- Deal tactfully with colleagues, patients, and visitors
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid motor vehicle license with satisfactory driving record
- Obtain Emergency Vehicle Operator (EVO) license within one year of employment
- Maintain weapon certifications in accordance with Delaware State Police Professional Licensing Section and departmental standards
- CPR and AED certification within 6 months of employment
- Meet the requirements of Constable (State of Delaware) in accordance with Title 10, Chapter 27 of the Delaware Code within 18 months of hire
- Two years experience in law enforcement, security, and/or public service (Fire/EMS), or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Obtain IAHSS Advanced Training Certificate or higher within 6 months of employment and maintain it for the duration of employment
Qualifications
- Prior law enforcement experience preferred
- Previous hospital experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated abilities in crisis management
