About the role
The City of Hampton is seeking an Information Center Clerk to provide customer support services to law enforcement officers, citizens and agencies throughout the nation. This class works under close supervision according to set procedures.

Requirements
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
- Requires three months customer relations experience to include direct customer contact, problem identification and resolution preferred or closely related experience.
- Will be required to successfully complete a Police Department background investigation to include a polygraph examination and preemployment screening for controlled substances.
- Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Must be able to successfully obtain a VCIN certification within a specified length of time in accordance with internal guidelines.
Additional Requirements
- Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
- Position may require working nights, weekends, holidays and extended shifts as required.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
- Must be able to maintain the ability to provide credible testimony in court, to the magistrate and in other situations where credibility will be of importance.
