Public Safety Communications Specialist (Temp)

About the role

Work at the Main Entrance, operate dispatch, and greet visitors. Entry and intermediate level positions.

Responsibilities

• Receive, dispatch, and log radio traffic on multiple radio frequencies
• Receive, dispatch, and log emergency and non-emergency phone calls at the Main Entrance
• Monitor fire and security alarms and cameras, dispatch, and log all alarms received
• Greet visitors to the campus, answer questions, and provide directions
• Follow established assignment schedule, ensure field officers are informed, and log all assignments completed
• Must occasionally lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
• May obtain CPR/First Aid certification

Requirements

• Able to work assigned shifts, which may include day, evening, night, weekend, or holiday shift hours
• High school graduate or GED
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and web-based applications
• Speedy and accurate keyboarding skills
• Communication and customer service skills; proficient in phone etiquette
• Multi-tasking skills under pressure while maintaining a professional and calm appearance
• A born-again Christian with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
• Agree with and affirm the Bob Jones University creed, mission, and core biblical doctrines
• Maintain a conservative lifestyle and support Bob Jones University’s positions on issues such as beverage alcohol, addictive substances, creation, marriage, human sexuality, and the sanctity of life (positions statement)
• Active member of a local Bible-believing church with orthodox theology
