About the role

Under the direction of the Supervisor I, the Analyst II (AN II) serves as a Public Records Act (PRA) Coordinator for the California Justice Information Services Division and the various programs within its bureaus. This role requires critical thinking and independent work to review and respond to PRA requests submitted to the Department from entities, private organizations, and the public.

The AN II must tactfully elicit information and cooperation from Division personnel at varying levels of authority under stringent deadlines while managing and maintaining strong relationships with a broad set of stakeholders. The position demands logical and creative reasoning, the use of analytical techniques to resolve complex problems, and the ability to develop, evaluate, and present alternatives effectively both orally and in writing. The AN II will consult with and advise administrators on subject-matter related to the Division’s systems and must maintain confidentiality while exercising a high level of discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Review and respond to Public Records Act (PRA) requests submitted to the Department.
  • Elicit information and cooperation from Division personnel at varying levels of authority under stringent deadlines.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with a broad set of stakeholders.
  • Resolve complex problems using a variety of analytical techniques.
  • Develop and evaluate alternatives, and present ideas effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Consult with and advise administrators on subject matter related to the Division’s systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise a high level of discretion.

Pay

Salary range: $6,031.00 - $7,547.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable. Current state employees or those with reinstatement rights will have their salary determined in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Effective July 1, 2025, state employees are subject to temporary wage reductions in exchange for Personal Leave Program (PLP) accruals. The specific rate and hours earned vary by bargaining unit.
