About the role

This position leads public health programs that support women, children, families, and individuals with special health care needs. The role ensures these programs run effectively and align with statewide priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Program Oversight: Direct program activities that support maternal and child health and improve systems of care
  • Needs Assessment: Identify priorities, develop plans, and guide strategies that ensure access and availability to essential services
  • Data Interpretation: Review and apply state and national data to address reporting needs for grants
  • Fiscal Management: Assist with annual budget requests, identify funding opportunities, and participate in the development of grant applications
  • Staff Supervision: Lead hiring, training, performance management, and staff development efforts
  • Cross-Agency Coordination: Work with state partners and community organizations to improve health outcomes

Qualifications

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Seven years of professional experience in development or evaluation of grants, contracts or programs for the provision of social, employment, environmental health or health related services, which includes one year of administrative, supervisory or consultative experience; or One year as a Public Health Program Administrator (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or An associate's degree in allied health sciences or nursing and five years of professional experience in the development or evaluation of grants, contracts or programs for the provision of social, employment, environmental health, or health related services, which includes one year of administrative, supervisory or consultative experience; or A bachelor's degree and three years of professional experience in the development or evaluation of grants, contracts or programs for the provision of social, employment, environmental health, or health related services, which includes one year of administrative, supervisory or consultative experience; or A master's degree in public health, health services administration, health care administration, health education, public health administration, public administration, nursing, epidemiology, social work, nutrition, hospital administration, physical therapy, occupational therapy, business administration, or education and two years of professional experience in the development or evaluation of grants, contracts or programs for the provision of social, employment, environmental health or health related services, which includes one year of administrative, supervisory or consultative experience.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
