Public Education Specialist
Position Details
The Center for Faculty Excellence supports the professional development of all faculty (tenure-track and non-tenure track) across all career stages in the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, outreach/service and leadership. Guided by faculty interests and goals, and the values of innovation, collaboration, and partnerships, the Center is a place where faculty members connect to share knowledge and skills that support each other’s growth.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze workshops, reflections and feedback forms to assess their effectiveness and impact on student persistence for both in-person and distance education.
- Design and complete a needs assessment.
- Develop a long-term plan for workshops indicating which workshops should be offered each year and which should be offered less frequently. Also include workshops that are missing and should be offered.
- Make recommendations for advertising and communications improvements that would benefit faculty and the Center.
- Develop and conduct workshops that are identified as a need in collaboration with CFE staff and MSU faculty.
Required Qualifications
- Personal experience or previous work with faculty and/or adult learners.
- Taught classes at the college level.
- Professionalism and maturity.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, and students.
- Respect for and appreciation of a broad range of various identities.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral or terminal degree in field of Education or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
