About the role
The Public Affairs Specialist will work closely with the command staff to develop and implement public affairs programs that support mission readiness and enhance the visibility of the organization. This position requires a strong understanding of media relations, public speaking, and the ability to manage relationships with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute public affairs plans to promote the organization's mission and values
- Manage media relations, including press releases, interviews, and social media engagement
- Coordinate public events and briefings to enhance organizational visibility
- Represent the organization at community events and conferences
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding
- Prepare and deliver speeches and presentations on behalf of the organization
- Respond to inquiries from the media and public in a timely and professional manner
- Monitor and analyze public opinion and media coverage to inform strategic decision-making
Requirements
- At least a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in public affairs, communications, or a related field
- A current Top Secret/SCI clearance or the ability to obtain one
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with social media management tools and platforms
