About the role
The Public Affairs Specialist II supports the mission, objectives, and goals of the client’s organization, maintaining relationships with the US Army and other services. Key responsibilities include creating and reviewing content across various mediums, supporting public relations programs, and coordinating community relations efforts.
Responsibilities
- Create content across multiple mediums, primarily in written form, and collaborate on visual products.
- Support the development and implementation of public relations programs, policies, events, and activities.
- Provide analysis, advice, and assistance on public affairs functions including digital media, executive communications, command information, internal communications, research, and analysis.
- Maintain relationships with the Army and other services to ensure effective communications and change-readiness capabilities.
- Develop and manage internal communications efforts, including newsletters, awards, and SharePoint content.
- Monitor community activities and coordinate participation in events and public forums.
- Support knowledge management and staff action task management on behalf of the directorate.
Requirements
- Required Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of six (6) years' experience in public affairs/public relations or a related field
- Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant military service
- DINFOS accreditation, or similar, desired but not required
- Published articles may be requested to demonstrate experience
- Demonstrated basic understanding of federal government public relations/affairs
- Able to develop and execute tailored communications plans
- Proven experience publishing written materials such as press releases and articles
- Serves as lead for community relations efforts
- Ability to work in various communications mediums, including digital and social media platforms, SharePoint, PowerPoint, etc.
- Familiarity with managing taskers
- Demonstrated experience in DoD, Army, Intel Community, or related federal sectors
- Secret Clearance preferred
Qualifications
- Familiarity with SharePoint, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, and other applications, such as CANVA
- Demonstrated experience in DoD, Army, Intel Community, or related federal sectors
Skills
- Basic understanding of federal government public relations/affairs
- Ability to develop and execute tailored communications plans
- Proven experience publishing written materials such as press releases and articles
- Ability to work in various communications mediums, including digital and social media platforms
- Ability to work under pressure to meet short deadlines
Benefits
- Salary Range: $115K-132K
- Base salary offer based on scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions
