About the role
The City of Roseville, California, invites experienced and forward-thinking public-sector leaders to apply for the position of Public Affairs and Communications (PAC) Director. Reporting to the City Manager, this executive-level role provides strategic and operational leadership for a highly visible department that ensures effective communications and legislative advocacy for a large, full-service municipal organization.
Qualifications
- Seven years of increasingly responsible experience in communications or public relations, including three years of administrative and management responsibility.
- Training equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license.
- Possession of an Accredited Public Relations (APR) certificate issued by the Public Relations Society of America or California Association of Public Information Officials is desirable.
Skills
- Broad knowledge of best practices in communications and marketing techniques, public relations and community outreach, with the ability to be agile in meeting digital accessibility standards and embracing new technologies.
- Strong track record of people-first leadership, including succession planning, performance management, staff development, and organizational culture-building.
- Experience presenting to a variety of audiences, working with executive teams, and collaborating with other departments and public agencies.
- Ability to balance visionary leadership with practical execution, keeping projects moving forward while maintaining high standards of communication and brand presence as an employer of choice.

Pay
Annual Salary: $155,020 – $207,742 DOE/DOQ
