About the Role

Physical Therapist Assistants work under the guidance of certified Physical Therapists to provide supportive patient care to people recovering from illnesses and injuries. They collaborate with the Physical Therapist about each patient’s condition and the treatments they will assist with during sessions. This role operates in a Skilled Nursing setting.

Responsibilities

• Helping patients stretch and exercise specific muscle groups.
• Reading instructions from the physical therapist.
• Working directly with the physical therapist to assist patients.
• Speaking with families to find the best at-home techniques.
• Keeping the physical therapy area clean and organized.
• Staging the treatment area with appropriate exercise equipment and adaptive tools for each session.
• Sanitizing the area and removing potential hazards to ensure adequate space for treatment.
• Moving patients from wheelchairs or walkers to the therapy area.
• Completing administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and filing paperwork.
