PT Staff: Assistant Coach-Cross Country/Track and Field

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach with daily operations of the programs.
  • Conduct individual and group skill development workouts.
  • Aid in practice planning, film breakdown, and event preparation.
  • Support recruiting efforts in accordance with NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
  • Maintain academic success, personal growth, and student-athlete accountability.
  • Aid in team travel coordination, equipment management, and operational needs.
  • Drive university-issued vehicles for team travel, recruiting activities, camps, and other program-related responsibilities while adhering to all university transportation policies.
  • Aid in organizing camps, clinics, community outreach events, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with NCAA, conference, and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a positive representative of the university and department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Previous participation experience at the collegiate, high school, or another competitive level.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to be approved to operate university-issued vehicles.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as required.
  • Commitment to student-athlete development, academic achievement, and program culture.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Collegiate coaching, operations, or participation experience.
  • Experience with athlete development and skill instruction.
  • Recruiting experience and knowledge of NCAA Division II regulations.
  • Strength and conditioning experience or background in athletic performance training.

Physical Demands

  • The work environment is an athletic and office setting which requires the ability to travel much of the time, work long hours including evenings and weekends, be physically active, able to lift up to 50 pounds, and have the ability to demonstrate specific skills.
  • Ability to travel frequently and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
