PT OT - Therapist III

Position Overview

Western State Hospital is seeking a full-time PT OT Therapist III to plan and deliver occupational therapy treatment utilizing comprehensive and specialized approaches and provide clinical guidance to rehabilitative staff.

About the Role

Western State Hospital is a 302-bed Joint Commission/CMS-accredited psychiatric facility located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley. The hospital serves adults with serious mental health needs and is nationally recognized for its Psychosocial Rehabilitation “Learning” programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 18-20 hours of patient contact per week in OT programs and assessments
• Ensure activities are age-appropriate and consistent with level of function
• Produce written evidence that the clinical process has been carried out-includes documentation of patient response to treatment program
• Complete Rehab Services initial or transfer assessment within 5 work days of a patient's arrival to the assigned ward and annual assessments
• Assist in design and implementation of OT service delivery, including administering assessments (Sensory, ILS, Rehab services) and assist with 1:1 OT consultation and intervention
• Demonstrate competency as facilitator for various PSR groups as evidenced by attaining passing scores on competency summaries completed by supervisor or PSR evaluators or observation by supervisor

Requirements

• Graduation from a program in occupational therapy that is accredited by the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association
• Previous experience in facilitating psychosocial groups in a mental health environment
• Valid Virginia Driver's License

Qualifications

• Experience implementing sensory based interventions in a mental health setting
• Demonstrated familiarity and experience with the Recovery model
• Extensive experience as a staff occupational therapist

Pay

Starting at $84,000 (commensurate based on experience)
