About the role

Join our team in Kimberly, WI as a Part-time Optical Sales Associate and help deliver high-quality eye care and products. You’ll build meaningful relationships in the community while improving patients' sight and lives. On-the-job training and certification opportunities are provided—no prior experience is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Service
    • Provide excellent customer and patient service according to company and Optical Center standards.
    • Analyze patient eyewear needs and recommend lenses, coatings, and frames tailored to their requirements.
    • Assist patients in selecting frames based on style, color, facial measurements, and optical prescriptions.
    • Order and dispense eyewear accurately and professionally.
    • Assist with frame repairs and adjustments.
    • Demonstrate how to insert, remove, and care for contact lenses.
    • Support the Optometrist with case histories and screenings.
  • Business and Operational Standards
    • Maintain knowledge of third-party insurance plans and claims.
    • Explain promotions and special lens offerings to patients.
    • Balance accounts and process medical billing information.
    • Prepare work orders for the Optical Lab with specific instructions.
    • Ensure proper merchandising of frame inventory.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Maintain any state-required optical license.
  • Complete Shopko OCE Certification and calendar modules to become certified.
  • Previous experience in an office or optical dispensing role is preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple customer interactions or phone calls simultaneously.
  • Experience analyzing prescriptions, performing repairs, adjustments, and lifestyle dispensing.

  • Effectively communicate in writing and verbally across all levels of the organization.
  • Read and write at a high school graduate level.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Operate office equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, fax, copier).
  • Lift 10 to 20 pounds.
  • Good vision (near, distance, color, and depth perception).
  • Manual and finger dexterity, hand/arm steadiness, and ability to grip items.
  • Strong eye-hand coordination.
  • Operate a cash register, optical equipment, and tools.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends, to meet deadlines.
  • Travel independently for company objectives and personal development.
