Purpose Statement
Provides support within the student transportation services area with specific responsibilities for assisting students during transport to and from school and/or special activities; and ensuring the safety and sanitation of assigned vehicles. Bilingual preferred. This job reports to Transportation Director.
Essential Functions
- Assists students (e.g. safe pickup/drop-off, student illness, etc.) for the purpose of providing safe loading and unloading from buses during normal transport and emergency situations.
- Assists substitute bus drivers (e.g. route advice, student pickups, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safe student transport to/from school and other activities.
- Inspects interior of busses and vans (e.g. items left behind, cleaning/maintenance needs, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the vehicle is ready for next day operation.
- Instructs students (e.g. stay in seat, hands/arms inside window, no fighting, etc.) for the purpose of enforcing rules/regulations and maintaining student safety and well-being.
- Monitors students with special needs (e.g. release to teacher, instructional assistant, parent, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safe transportation of all passengers.
- Reports observations and/or incidents to bus driver (e.g. discipline, illness, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate personnel for their action.
- Secures students and/or their equipment (e.g. restraints, wheel chair tie downs, seat belts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
Qualifications
- Experience: Job related experience is desired.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certificates and Licenses: IVP (Identity Verified Print) Fingerprint Clearance Card.

$16.00/Hr, 180 Days Position
