Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Sorts and shelves books, magazines, pamphlets, audiovisual materials, and other library materials.
- Affords assistance with directional and simple reference inquiries.
- Retrieves materials for customer holds and processes requests from other departments.
- Affords assistance with merchandising.
- Reads shelves according to schedule for accurate order of materials.
- Shifts and straightens materials as necessary.
- Searches for misplaced or lost materials.
- Affords assistance with weeding, as assigned.
- Pulls materials requiring mending or binding.
- Affords assistance with training for new Branch Shelvers.
- Affords assistance with processing donations.
- Supports and advances the Library’s mission of connecting people with the world of ideas and information.
- Embraces and embodies the Library’s core beliefs, strategic priorities and pillars of excellence.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Skill in customer service.
- Ability to arrange materials in alphabetical and numerical order.
- Ability to work independently and with coworkers in a wide variety of situations with minimal supervision.
- Ability to use all technology applicable to the essential functions of the job and commonly used by the Library.
Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Certifications or licensure: None.
- Years of relevant experience: None.
- Years of experience supervising: None.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.

12 hours per week
Salary
$12.90 per hour
