PT Admissions Office Assistant
Part-time position up to 29 hours per week. Hours may include day, evenings, and weekends.
About the role
Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) is seeking a motivated and self-directed individual for the position of Administrative Assistant to support the offices of Admissions, Records, and Accessibility Services. This part-time role will provide excellent customer service to students and prospective students and assist with the application and enrollment processes. The Administrative Assistant will also support faculty and staff with questions related to admissions and enrollment, process program changes and dual enrollment registrations, and work closely with the Director of Accessibilities to schedule student appointments and administer course testing with approved accommodations such as proctored testing and read-aloud services. This role will primarily serve as a member of the Admissions staff completing enrollment processes. Some travel to off-campus events and specialized training may be required.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to students and prospective students regarding application and enrollment processes.
- Assist faculty and staff with admissions and enrollment-related questions.
- Process program changes and dual enrollment registrations.
- Work with the Director of Accessibilities to schedule student appointments and administer course testing with approved accommodations (e.g., proctored testing, read-aloud services).
- Complete enrollment processes as a member of the Admissions staff.
- Travel to off-campus events and specialized training as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting in emergencies declared by the Governor.
Requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong organizational skills and attention to accuracy.
- Strong ability to prioritize assignments to meet deadlines while ensuring student service comes first.
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends, including some overnight travel as requested.
- Demonstrated professionalism and excellent customer service skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge and skills related to various office technologies.
- Absolute confidentiality required for all processes related to student information.
- Some travel required.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree preferred.
- Experience with the VCCS SIS (Student Information System) portal preferred.
Pay
$15.00 per hour.
