About the role

This position involves standardized administering and scoring of neuropsychological instruments to support a team of neuropsychologists serving outpatient and inpatient populations. Summarizing test data in a clear, accurate, and comprehensive manner is required.

Responsibilities

  • Administers standardized assessments to a diverse patient population under the direct supervision of a licensed psychologist or neuropsychologist.
  • Administers and scores tests selected by supervising neuropsychologists to suit the patient’s status and needs (per documentation review).
  • Buils rapport and maintains patient effort throughout the assessment.
  • Completes scoring and summaries in a timely fashion (within 1 week of appointment).
  • Summarizes test and evaluation data results in a clear, accurate and comprehensive manner to generate useful recommendations for the patient, caregiver and team.
  • Summarizes clear behavioral observations.
  • Maintains test equipment in neat and orderly fashion.
  • Ensures that test supplies and computer scoring programs are adequate and up to date across sites.
  • Works with multiple providers at multiple sites.
  • Maintains confidential patient information in an organized manner.
  • Applies effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills to work processes.
  • Delivers care that reflects the principles of patient and family centered care.
  • Interfaces with all resources to maximize service delivery and continuity of care.
  • Keeps running inventory of test/test forms and requests new supplies as needed and provide organizational support to supervising neuropsychologists as requested.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Respects and uses expertise of other team members and staff yet accepts fair share of workload.
  • Participates in training and ongoing learning of instruments.
  • Takes responsibility for addressing conflict involving patient/family and Gillette caregivers.
  • May also be asked to complete administrative tasks, such as triaging referrals or consults, serving as a team member’s proxy in the EHR, onboarding new employees, responding to departmental phone calls or faxes, or working on efforts toward process or practice improvement.

Qualifications

  • B.A. or B.S. in Psychology or related field
  • CPR certification
  • Experience, or must obtain certification within 90 days of hire, with computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, and multiple testing scoring programs)
  • Experience with a wide range of pediatric, adolescent and adult medical patients
  • Interpersonal skills which include ability to successfully establish rapport with the patients and families and the ability to communicate effectively with other caregivers
  • Organizational skills and capacity to use them flexibly to address specific referral questions

Preferred

  • Prior psychological or neuropsychological testing experience
