Psychometrist

Job Summary

The Psychometrist administers and scores standardized neuropsychological tests under supervision of licensed neuropsychologist to assist in the evaluation of patient's cognitive function. Provides detailed behavioral observations of patients and provides timely and accurate test results to neuropsychologists. Attends psychometrist and department meetings to discuss clinical issues and to stay current on new developments in psychological testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field required.
• Experience or training in standardized neuropsychological testing is desirable.
• Psychometrists have general knowledge of common neuropsychological disorders, associated behaviors a patient might display, and the ability to objectively document those behaviors.
• Certified Specialist in Psychometry preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within one year of hire.

About the Role

There is structured on the job training that consists of observing, studying, and practicing each test to achieve proficiency before tests can be administered independently. Initial training can last 3-6 months and continues with quality assurance which includes thorough review of completed work to maintain consistency and standardization. Continued training occurs with revised tests or new tests.
