PSYCHOLOGIST II (Multiple Full-Time positions available)
Position Overview
The Maryland State Department of Education seeks a Psychologist to lead Disability Claims Examiners in processing Social Security and Supplemental Security Income disability claims. This role requires a Psychologist license and experience in psychological services or research.
Job Duties
- Review psychiatric and psychological evidence to establish impairments.
- Analyze evidence to evaluate disability according to Social Security Regulations.
- Assess impairment severity and describe functional limitations.
- Prepare written opinions including findings, severity assessments, and mental residual functional capacity descriptions.
- Advise examiner staff on clinical training and experience-specific cases.
- Review and assess the accuracy and completeness of Consultative Examination (CE) reports.
- Participate in training development and implementation for examiner staff on psychological evidence understanding and use.
Minimum Qualifications
- Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists under licensing requirements.
- Two years of experience rendering psychological services or engaging in psychological research after obtaining the Psychologist license.
Special Requirements
- Pass the SSA suitability process.
- Conditional job offer and access to SSA systems contingent upon suitability determination.
