PSYCHOLOGIST (HEALTH FACILITY - CLINICAL - SAFETY)

About the role
This position is located at Metropolitan State Hospital. The Psychologist applies psychological knowledge and techniques to the assessment and treatment of forensic patients, mostly sexual offenders detained or committed pursuant to California Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) Act. Responsibilities include conducting a wide range of psychological assessments, facilitating psychotherapy groups and individual therapy, constructing case formulations, developing and implementing treatment plans, leading multidisciplinary treatment team conferences, writing progress reports, assisting in developing training programs for other staff, and serving as consultants.
Ability to provide accurate and complete reports and documentation in accordance with professional standards, hospital documentation policies, and State guidelines. Ability to provide psychological assessments that are completed timely and address the required specificity of content.
Responsibilities
- Conduct psychological assessments for forensic patients, primarily sexual offenders under the California Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) Act.
- Facilitate psychotherapy groups and individual therapy sessions.
- Construct case formulations and develop treatment plans.
- Lead multidisciplinary treatment team conferences.
- Write progress reports and maintain documentation in compliance with professional and hospital standards.
- Assist in developing training programs for other staff.
- Serve as a consultant on psychological matters.
Pay
$9,157.00 - $10,951.00 (Range U) / $10,809.00 - $13,272.00 (Range V) per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
Schedule
Permanent, Full Time. Hybrid telework arrangement.
Work Location
Los Angeles County, at the Department of State Hospitals - Coalinga (Metropolitan State Hospital).
Department Information
DSH-Coalinga opened in 2005 and treats forensically committed patients, mostly sexually violent predators. It is a self-contained psychiatric hospital with a security perimeter. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) provides perimeter security and transportation of patients to outside medical services and court proceedings.
