PSYCHOLOGIST, CF - North Kern State Prison (NKSP)

About the role
Under the general direction of the Senior Psychologist, Correctional Facility, the Psychologist-Clinical, Correctional Facility performs preadmission screenings, psychological evaluations, crisis intervention, individual therapy, treatment and discharge planning. Additional duties include:
- Participating in interdisciplinary team evaluations and consulting with psychiatrists, nursing, and other staff
- Providing clinical support across the institution, including staff meetings, institutional committees, and custody staff consultations
- Supervising and training students, interns, unlicensed psychologists, and other staff
- Participating in program evaluation and research, including consultation on research design and data analysis
Pay
This classification is eligible for Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) authorization with the following monthly rates:
- P: $11,496
- Q: $13,937
Effective July 1, 2025, full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 19 will receive a 3% base salary reduction and 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Part-time and permanent intermittent employees are subject to prorated conditions.
Recruitment and retention incentives may apply:
- A one-time $10,000 stipend after six months of employment
- A monthly differential totaling $20,000 during the first year of employment
CDCR/CCHCS employees may qualify for a $5,000 referral bonus if the selected candidate remains employed for 90 days.
