About the role

The Senior Psychologist, Correctional Facility (CF) (Supervisor) position is located at Kern Valley State Prison in Delano, CA (Kern County). Under the general direction of the Chief Psychologist, the incumbent provides direct training and clinical/administrative supervision of subordinate staff psychologists, performs difficult psychological evaluations and treatment of inmate patients, assists in program development and evaluation, research, training, clinical consultation, revision of department policy and procedures, and serves as a specialized psychological consultant to institutional staff.

Responsibilities

• Direct training and clinical/administrative supervision of subordinate staff psychologists as assigned.
• Perform the most difficult psychological evaluations and associated treatment of inmate patients.
• Assist in program development and evaluation, research, training, clinical consultation, and revision of department policy and procedures.
• Function as a specialized psychological consultant to institutional staff upon request.

Pay

• Base salary reduced by 3 percent effective July 1, 2025 (per PLP 2025).
• Receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027 (prorated for part‑time and permanent intermittent employees based on time‑base or hours worked).
• Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

Benefits

• Eligible for a $10,000 one‑time recruitment and retention stipend after six months of employment with CCHCS.
• Eligible for a monthly recruitment and retention differential during the first year with CCHCS, totaling up to $20,000.
• Eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus for CDCR/CCHCS employees who refer a hired candidate that remains employed for 90 days.
