About the role

The Psychologist II conducts comprehensive psychological assessments and evaluations to support diagnosis, treatment planning, risk assessment, and court-related needs. Responsibilities include providing individual, group, and family psychotherapy, psychoeducation, crisis intervention, and clinical consultation to treatment teams and hospital staff.

Responsibilities

• Review patient records, conduct clinical interviews, and select/administer psychological and neuropsychological tests.
• Interpret assessment results and communicate findings through written reports and oral presentations.
• Provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy and psychoeducation.
• Select appropriate treatment modalities based on patient needs and provide crisis intervention.
• Offer clinical consultation and behavioral management recommendations to treatment teams and hospital staff, including development and evaluation of behavioral guidelines, milieu planning, staff education, and individualized behavioral interventions.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with hospital requirements and applicable standards.
• Actively participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams by providing psychological expertise, contributing to diagnosis and treatment planning, developing behavioral management plans, assisting with team leadership, supporting discharge planning, and providing clinical recommendations.
• Provide cross-coverage as needed.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in psychology from an appropriately accredited program.
• Current, unrestricted license as a Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia (to be obtained within one year of hire).
• Knowledge and demonstrated ability in psychological assessment, diagnosis, psychological testing, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, behavioral management, and multidisciplinary treatment planning.
• Ability to independently provide psychological services, conduct and interpret psychological assessments, develop treatment recommendations, provide clinical consultation, and prepare professional clinical reports.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience providing psychological services in an inpatient psychiatric, forensic, behavioral health, or other high-acuity clinical setting.
