Psychological Services Specialist, DOC - SCI Waymart

About the role

This position focuses on supporting the mental health and emotional adjustment needs of inmates through counseling, testing, and coordinated services across SCI Waymart.

Responsibilities

• Counseling Support: Provide individual and group therapy that addresses behavior, emotional needs, and treatment goals
• Testing And Evaluation: Conduct interviews and administer standardized tests to understand abilities and mental health needs
• Service Coordination: Work with institutional departments and outside agencies to ensure delivery of mental health services
• Documentation Work: Prepare reports, treatment plans, and behavior strategies based on assessments and observations
• Crisis Assistance: Respond to urgent mental health concerns and support inmates in assessment housing areas
• Committee Participation: Serve on institutional committees and contribute information related to inmate progress

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field that includes fifteen graduate level credits in psychology or counseling
• Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must meet the PA residency requirement.

Benefits

• Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Sunday - Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch
• Eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55
• Telework: Not available in this position

Pay

• Starting annual salary of $67,736.00 (before taxes)
• Additional pay for those who possess or obtain licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Counselor issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselors

Schedule

• Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week
