Psychological Services Specialist, DOC - SCI Mahanoy
Description of Work
This position supports the mental and emotional well-being of inmates by providing counseling, assessment, and coordination of care. You will help guide treatment planning and support appropriate techniques to modify and manage inmate behavior.
- Counseling Services: Provide individual and group counseling that supports emotional adjustment and behavior change
- Testing and Evaluation: Conduct interviews and administer psychological tests to assess needs and guide treatment decisions
- Care Coordination: Work with other departments, agencies, and mental health facilities to ensure inmates receive appropriate services
- Crisis Response: Offer support to assess housing unit inmates and staff as needed
- Program Participation: Serve on institutional committees and contribute information for reviews and decision making
- Reentry Support: Act as a liaison for mental health services and help prepare inmates for community-based care
Qualifications Required
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field that includes fifteen graduate level credits in psychology or counseling. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
