Psychological Services Specialist, DOC - SCI Forest
Description of Work
This position delivers psychological services that support emotional health, treatment planning, and behavioral progress for inmates at SCI Forest. As a Psychological Services Specialist, DOC, you will perform the following duties:
- Counseling Services: Provide individual and group therapy to help inmates build coping skills and address behavioral or emotional needs
- Assessment Activities: Conduct interviews and testing to evaluate mental health needs and recommend appropriate interventions
- Interdisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with institutional departments and outside agencies to support continuity of care
- Crisis Response: Deliver emergency psychological support to inmates experiencing acute emotional distress
- Program Support: Assist with research efforts and contribute to committees that guide mental health services within the facility
- Guidance for Interns: Provide training and oversight to psychology student interns during testing and evaluation tasks
Qualifications Required
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field that includes fifteen graduate level credits in psychology or counseling. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
