Psychological Asst Adult Psychiatry-IOP

About the Role

Under the supervision of a licensed Psychologist or board-certified Psychiatrist, provides mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention services for adult and/or child members presenting with a broad range of mental health needs. Collaborates with treating primary care providers and psychiatric/allied health professional team members to plan and direct each patient's treatment program.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates clinical treatment programs for the diagnosis, treatment, and/or referral of Health Plan members with acute or chronic mental illness.
• Participates in staff conferences to select, plan, and evaluate treatment programs.
• Provides outpatient psychotherapy to individuals, couples, families, and groups.
• Instructs and counsels patients and their families regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens and adherence to medication, within scope of practice.
• May administer specialized therapeutic procedures, as appropriate.
• Provides support to members' families, including explanation of treatment and instructions on supporting interventions.
• May develop and conduct psychoeducational classes and groups.
• Conducts psychological assessments, including test administration, interpretation, and recommendations.
• Prepares intake summaries, treatment plans, case summaries, and maintains ongoing confidential records in compliance with state and NCQA regulations.
• Collaborates with physicians in screening and evaluating patients for psychotropic medications, within scope of practice.
• Utilizes resources of public and private agencies and community organizations to meet members' treatment needs, including referrals as appropriate.
• May develop, implement, and evaluate behavioral medicine and health psychology programs in various settings, including primary care.
• Provides consultation to care providers and health educators on mental health, health psychology, and behavioral medicine matters.
• Provides clinical supervision to psychology doctoral interns, postdoctoral residents, and other mental health trainees/fellows as necessary.
• Consults with supervisors and psychiatrists regarding members' progress and treatment.
• Participates in departmental program development, implementation, and evaluation.
• Reports safety concerns to mandated reporting agencies.

Requirements

• Completion of a psychology doctoral internship (minimum 1,500 hours).
• PhD, PsyD, or EdD in Clinical, Counseling, Health, or School Psychology from an accredited college or university.
• Psychological Assistant Registration (California) required at hire.
• Psychologist License (California) within 24 months of hire.
• Must work a schedule accumulating at least half the required supervisory hours annually.
• Familiarity with DSM-V for diagnosis.
• Experience assessing, diagnosing, and treating a broad range of psychiatric conditions.
• Knowledge of Evidence-Based Practice and psychotherapy research methods.
• Understanding of bio-psycho-social functions contributing to mental health.
• Accuracy in diagnosing patients and developing effective treatment plans.
• Competence in individual, family, and group psychotherapy.
• Professional maturity and ethical integrity for assuming professional responsibilities.
• Commitment to quality service, teamwork, and participation in a multidisciplinary clinic.
• Ability to complete multiple tasks/objectives in a timely manner.
• Knowledge of social service agencies, state regulations, and APA standards related to client treatment and confidentiality.
• Previous clinical responsibilities including psychological testing, diagnosis, crisis intervention, and psychotherapy.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in psychological evaluations of adults, children, adolescents, and families, including administering and writing up psychological testing and assessment batteries.
• Previous clinical responsibility in crisis intervention, individual, and group psychotherapy.
• Demonstrated professional maturity and ethical integrity.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality service and teamwork in a multidisciplinary clinic.
• Demonstrated ability to complete multiple tasks/objectives in a timely manner.
• Accuracy in diagnosing patients and developing effective treatment plans.
• Competence in individual, family, and group psychotherapy.

Schedule

• Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Shift: Day, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Option to work four 10-hour days (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday).

Pay

$50.26 - $54.54 per hour.

Location

Redwood City, California (Redwood City Veterans Medical Offices). Flexible worker location must align with Kaiser Permanente's Authorized States policy.

Travel

Up to 10% of the time.
