Our mission is to provide a full range of primary health care and supportive social services that promote the health and well-being of all who live in or visit the ten outermost towns of Cape Cod. OCHS now cares for more than 20,000 patients annually, and no one is denied access to services due to an inability to pay.

Founded in 1987 through the merger of Health Associates of Provincetown (established in 1972) and the AIM Medical Center in Wellfleet (established in 1966), Outer Cape Health has a long history of successful growth and expansion in pursuit of this mission. As a Patient-Centered Medical Home, OCHS holds itself to the highest standards. Ensuring patients have access to care when they need it and request it and validating that staff are working at the top of their licensures are the foundations of this model.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric consultation for patients referred by primary care, including diagnosis assessment, treatment planning, and management of psychiatric conditions.
• Assist primary care providers with diagnostic clarification and determination of appropriate levels of behavioral health and psychiatric care.
• Provide recommendations regarding psychotropic medications, including medication selection, dosing, monitoring, potential interactions, and treatment response.
• Work closely with primary care clinicians, including physicians and advanced practice practitioners, to integrate psychiatric care into the overall healthcare plan.
• Collaborate on assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans to maximize patients' well-being.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills in collaborating with all team members within the Psychiatry and Primary Care teams to provide comprehensive care to patients.
• Deliver evidence-based psychiatric care, incorporating the latest research and best practices into patient treatment plans.
• Prioritize patient-centered care, fostering a therapeutic alliance with patients and their families to achieve optimal mental health outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, and timely completion of all documentation, coding, and billing within 72 hours of direct patient care.
• Stay current with advances in psychiatry through continuous education and training activities, sharing knowledge and expertise with the healthcare team.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of psychiatric services within OCHS.
• Adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards, demonstrating empathy, cultural competence, and sensitivity in patient interactions.
• Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
• Board certification in Psychiatry.
• Valid state medical license and DEA registration.
• Eligibility for malpractice insurance.
• Experience in community-based psychiatry and collaborative care models is preferred.
• Strong commitment to patient care, safety, and well-being.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, organizational abilities, and computer experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills – bilingual helpful.
• Proficiency in computer skills including EPIC, Outlook, Microsoft Office, OneDrive, etc.
• Excellent judgment and ability to solve problems in a timely manner.
• Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality standards.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse and inclusive environment.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $130 per hour. This range is provided to promote equity and transparency in our hiring process. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, internal equity, and other job-related criteria.
