About the Role

New York City Children’s Center (NYCCC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is seeking a Board Eligible or Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join its Queens campus at 74-03 Commonwealth Blvd, Queens, NY. Psychiatrists at NYCCC are part of a multi-disciplinary team providing comprehensive, patient-centered, holistic care to children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances.

NYCCC is a multi-faceted community-based psychiatric center offering behavioral health services to children and adolescents in the greater New York City area. With campuses in Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx, NYCCC provides a variety of inpatient and community services, including Day Treatment Programs, Behavioral Health Clinics, Mobile Integration Team (MIT), Community Residences, and Peer Advocacy Services. All programs are fully integrated, enabling a full continuum of care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and patient admissions
  • Create treatment plans, including medication management
  • Obtain and review appropriate laboratory tests and consult with members of the treatment team as needed
  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy
  • Collaborate with families, schools, and community providers to support safe discharge planning

Requirements

Minimum qualifications for candidates from outside or within State Service under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program:

  • Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
  • Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.
  • Psychiatrist 2 Children & Youth: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN, and certification in child and adolescent psychiatry approved by the ABPN.

Candidates from within State Service may also be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
