New York City Children’s Center (NYCCC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting a Board Eligible or Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join its Queens campus.

About the Role

Psychiatrists at NYCCC are part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides comprehensive, patient-centered, holistic team-based care to children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances. NYCCC is a multi-faceted community-based psychiatric center with campuses in Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx, offering a full continuum of care through integrated programs including Day Treatment, Behavioral Health Clinics, Mobile Integration Team (MIT), Community Residences, and Peer Advocacy Services.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and patient admissions
  • Create treatment plans including medication management
  • Obtain and review appropriate laboratory tests and consult with members of the treatment team as needed
  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy
  • Collaborate with families, schools, and community providers to support safe discharge planning

Requirements

Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they meet one of the following:

  • Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
  • Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.
  • Psychiatrist 2 Children & Youth: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN, and certification in child and adolescent psychiatry approved by the ABPN.

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
