Psychiatric Technician (Safety) - Salinas Valley State Prison
Job Description and Duties
The Psychiatric Technician (PT) (Safety) under the supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse II/III, Correctional Facility, Unit Supervisor (Safety), or Senior Psychiatric Technician (Safety), organizes and provides a basic level of general nursing and behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to patients in various correctional health care settings. The PT (Safety) ensures the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients, supports the care team for daily health care operations, and communicates effectively with patients and other members of the health care team. The PT (Safety) addresses the ongoing needs of patients, works with the health care team, and promotes the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of health care resources.
Requirements (minimum qualifications)
You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement. The requirements include possession of a valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician issued by the BVNPTE, and passing a Drug Screening and Background Investigation prior to hiring.
Working Conditions
Travel may be required.
Position Details
This is a limited term position which may be extended or become permanent. The position requires a pay differential equivalent to 15% of the base pay for employees providing direct patient care.

Tuberculosis (TB) Testing
Candidates new to CCHCS are required to undergo TB testing prior to appointment, followed by departmental annual TB testing/evaluation thereafter.

The position requires a Drug Screening and Background Investigation to be passed prior to hiring.
